Molten Iron in Houdini

Molten Iron in Houdini

Hello guys, in this project, I simulated flowing molten metal, referring to the fluid formed by dragon flame melting the Iron Throne in Game of Thrones. All of my work is done in Houdini. By applying noise to viscosity and remapping it to sharper contrasts, the characteristics of the motion of lava are created, where thinner areas tend to flow more easily and harder and thicker areas tend to be more stable. Afterwards, I created a customized curve velocity field to guide my lava towards a specific direction and gradually form distinct strands (as shown in the reference clip on the bottom tight corner).
In the end, I anchored my pyronoise to the lava mesh using "rest" and "rest2" attribute to create surface displacement and apply scattered highlights.
